After two and a half days of too much free seltzer, creepy and hilarious Samuel Adams cut-outs and Elle King levels of drunken fun, Boston Calling finally closed out having seen tremendous acts such as Odesza, Disclosure, HAIM, Vince Staples, Sia, the Vaccines and Miike Snow enter the stage with blow-out audiences. The underlying threads of the festival, however, were the local talent such as Michael Christmas, Palehound and Nemes.
Eastside Kings Festival is a blues festival here in Austin with 30 artists performing at nine different venues all across the city. The event serves to celebrate and recognize several artist who have produced quality music for years.

Empire Control Room and Garage was packed with people and various local vendors, selling products like premium raw chocolates and bone jewelry, last Thursday (May 19) as three female-fronted rock bands assembled–courtesy of Glitter Tribe–each delivering a unique and electrifying set that made the night one to remember.

While the Mohawk’s doors open at 8 p.m., shows usually don’t start until significantly later, sometimes as much as an hour and a half. Sometimes, someone might think that a show starts when the doors to the venue open, and that someone ends up on a balcony fighting a losing battle between their hands and the swarm of mosquitoes that had (I’m assuming) spawned in the rainwater that had pooled in the balcony trashcan next to the glass double doors of the Green Room.
